Frederick Buechner once wrote, “The grace of God means something like: Here is your life. You might never have been, but you are because the party wouldn't have been complete without you." I started this blog to share random thoughts about my quest to become a better father, husband, and Christian, and to discuss what I learn in my everyday life and where my place at the party might be. I look forward to comments and stories from you about your own journeys.

World's Youngest "Seinfeld" Fan?
I couldn't believe my ears: MB, my three-year-old, looked at me just a few minutes ago and said, "I want to watch 'Seinfeld.'" My wife said that she already knows the names of all of the major characters. What a shock -- and what a difference a generation makes; when I was three, I was naming characters from Watergate. My daughter names characters from a sitcom; go figure!
i love it!
ReplyDeleteToo funny! We're big Seinfeld rerun fans here (and all the kids too). We never watched even one episode when it ran weekly. But once it hit reruns we became devotees.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest daughter was about 3 at the time so I totally get what you're saying.
When you were three you were naming characters from Watergate? Wow.
ReplyDeletemy 13 year old son loves Seinfeld....Watergate, are you serious?
ReplyDeleteYep, Watergate figured prominently in my young life. I used to watch the hearings every day on television, and was probably the only three-year-old who knew (or cared, for that matter) who Haldeman, Ehrlichman, Dean, and Liddy were. My father loves to tell the story that I used to talk about the television series that was on at that time about Watergate, "Washington Behind Closed Doors" -- or, in my lingo at the time, "Washington 'Hind Them Doors."
ReplyDeleteLOL. I have boys...I was watching the BBC Pride and Prejudice when the youngest was 3. He came over and snuggled in with me, fascinated. We watched together for several minutes, me thinking, "Wow, he's brilliant! Look at him engaged in this piece of living literature!" He turns to me and says, "Are they aliens?"
