Frederick Buechner once wrote, “The grace of God means something like: Here is your life. You might never have been, but you are because the party wouldn't have been complete without you." I started this blog to share random thoughts about my quest to become a better father, husband, and Christian, and to discuss what I learn in my everyday life and where my place at the party might be. I look forward to comments and stories from you about your own journeys.

So What's the Complete List?
Instead of dragging out my top ten film list any longer (and trying to find a nice photo or film clip to include with each post, which is fun when they can be found), here is a complete set of the ten films I'd like to have if ever stranded no a desert island:

I'm really terrible with "favorite" lists of any type. But I know that my list of movies I'd want if I was stranded on a desert island wouldn't equate to a list of movies I thought were the "best" I've seen. It seems often when a movie really has a lot of punch or impact for me, it isn't the kind of movie I will watch repeatedly. In act there are many movies I would list on a "Best of" list that I really couldn't watch again, like The Mission.
So my "desert island" list would be filled with entertaining movies, rather than the most moving. At least for me. Things like While You Were Sleeping, P&P miniseries, Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Bourne movies, Jumpin' Jack Flash, etc.
I also might include movies like Babette's Feast and Ushpizin, which I highly recommend.
BTW- I love the music!
i have plenty of favourites. from your list, i like :
The Shoes of the Fisherman
Remains of the Day
The Godfather
Lawrence of Arabia
Hmmm... desert island... WITH electricity?? or is your DVD player battery operated? Great list! But you forgot "High Noon" and "Washington 'hind doze doors!" Oh yes, I remember all of those days we spent watching such great movies! Remember the Godfather marathon? I'm glad you liked "Shoes of the Fisherman" with Anthony Quinn - one of my all time favorites!
I like all of the movie on your list. I listed mine here.
Love the Enya.. my kind of music!
I'm going to assume a solar-powered DVD player on that island, so here are my top 10 DVD packages as of today.
1. Pierrot le Fou - Jean-Luc Godard
2. The Matrix Trilogy (10-disc deluxe set)
3. Seven Samurai (3-disc set)
4. One of my five different Looney Tunes Golden Collection sets (not sure at the moment which volume I'd pick though... whichever one has the most Bob Clampett probably.)
5. The Complete Monterrey Pop Festival
6. Two-Lane Blacktop
7. Bergman's Trilogy (Through A Glass Darkly, Winter Light, The Silence)
8. The "Qatsi" films (Koyaanisqatsi, Powqatsi, Naqoyqatski)
9. The Milky Way by Luis Bunuel
10. Dazed and Confused
I'll be happy to expound on any of these choices upon request. :o)
